Opening day for the Magic Kingdom was a fiasco.

Black Sunday is a day known only to those in the Disney organization. It is a day of infamy over 50 years ago that spawned the famous Disney theme of today. Disney CA had to start somewhere and to all of its glory, opening day was not as bad as they say.
Disneyland opened on a hot Southern California day, July 17, 1955. California was in the midst of a summer heat wave and temps rose to over 109 degrees, which is almost unheard of for Southern California. Entrance to the park was by invite only. Ticket holders were able to enjoy over 20 attractions nestled into 5 fantasy themed lands. Over 20,000 people entered the gates that day and embarked on an adventure like no other. A speculation states that almost half of Disneyland’s original guests got admission to the park using counterfeit tickets. Guests waited in long lines for a chance to ride colorful fun rides on the first day. Some rides were shut down due to overuse and sabotage. Vapor lock made the small gas engines on the Autotopia ride quit and made the ride look like a gridlocked California freeway. Lack of water fountains placed around the park was a major complaint from the guests that day, food lines were long and not stocked well, making for some disgruntle customers. Disneyland has since become a world-class operation with well over billions crossing through the gates, paying almost $60 bucks a pop for admission. The original 160-acre site was once an orange grove located in the sleepy suburb of Los Angeles and is known as Anaheim, California.
